Medical nonwovens
Medical nonwoven is popular in the medical industry for its properties such as water absorption and microorganism filtration. Polypropylene nonwovens such as spunbond, meltblown, SMS or laminates are non-dusting materials, which is why they are perfect for medical goods. Special breathable laminates are applied in medical clothing, where protection against liquids, including blood, is important. They ensure water resistance, and at the same time significantly reduce the inleakage of liquids.
Nonwovens and certified medical clothing
The Bermed medical nonwovens have certificates that prove the high quality of materials and resistance to various types of external factors. Meltblown and SMS nonwovens have been tested for bacterial filtration. BFE for meltblown is 99.6%, whereas for SMS nonwoven it is above 98%. Laboratory tests were also carried out on the protective laminated nonwoven fabric for which resistance to synthetic blood with a pressure of up to 20 kPa was confirmed, and the material was certified by Centexbel.
Nonwoven fabric for medical supplies
The materials available at Bermed can be used as non-woven fabrics for medical masks or protective clothing: gowns and coveralls. However, polypropylene nonwovens can be as well applied in other types of disposable items of protective clothing and equipment of surgical rooms. Nonwovens such as spunbond and SMS are used for the production of disposable flip-flops and shoe covers (laminated non-woven fabrics can also be used), patient clothing used during examinations and treatments (e.g. gynecological skirts) and elements securing medical equipment (e.g. cable tunnels for devices in treatment rooms and operating rooms).
